We received the following from Robert Boutwood at Port Lympne Wild Animal Park. It is a great way to support the charity.
Rainforest Ball to Raise Money for Gorillas in the Wild
“You are cordially invited to take a table at our Rainforest Ball which is hosted by Lady Sarah Aspinall the widow of the late John Aspinall and Janie Osborne, the wife of The Chairman of The Aspinall Foundation, James Osborne.
This will be our third ball with over £170,000 having been raised from our first two events in aid of Gorillas in the Wild and other associated conservation projects that The Foundation is committed to.
The Aspinall Foundation Releases Gorillas Back into the Wild
The Aspinall Foundation has reintroduced 51 Gorillas back into protected areas of the Congo and Gabon, and there have been 10 births to these protected Gorillas. We continually strive to protect the Western Lowland Gorilla, which is critically endangered. We are the only Foundation in the world introducing gorillas back to the wild. The Aspinall Foundation also extends its protection to nearly one million acres of Wilderness, which is also helping the fauna and flora to flourish within this area. Please go to www.totallywild.net for further information on our conservation projects.
Rainforest Ball – 18th September
The Ball in 2010 will take place on Saturday 18th September at Port Lympne Wild Animal Park, Lympne, Nr. Hythe, Kent, CT21 4PD. This unique enviroment is home to over 70 rare and endangered species including The Barbary Lion (extinct in the wild), The Black Rhino (we look after the largest herd of this species outside of Africa and have reintroduced five back into the wild), Przewalski’s Horse (extinct in the wild, but part of a reintroduction programme led by The Aspinall Foundation) and Siberian and Bengal Tigers.
Drinks, Music, Auctions and Dancing
The Ball starts at 7pm and carriages are at 2am.
There will be a drinks reception in the Port Lympne mansion, where you will get up close and personal with the Naturalistic Gorillas and a variety of exciting entertainment. This will be followed by a call to dinner from the African drummers & dancers and a sumptious three course dinner in the specially themed rainforest marquee.
After dinner an auction with sensational prizes will take place, which has previously seen prizes including “A Walk On Part In The Phantom Of The Opera” from Cameron Mackintosh, “A Trip To The Gorillas In The Wild With The Aspinall Foundation” and truly, “money can’t buy” motorpsort prizes donated from Ron Denis & Sir Frank Williams. Royal Ascot, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig are other kind donators. This will be followed by a fabulous surprise performance. Dancing will round off the evening to live music in the marquee and to a laser disco in the mansion.
Star Guests
Our star guest hosts and attendees have included Christopher Biggins, an Ambassador for The Aspinall Foundation, Vic Reeves and Nancy Sorrell, both long term Aspinall Foundation supporters and fund raisers and Capital radio DJ Johnny Vaughan and former captain of England and Kent, Chris Cowdrey.
We very much hope that you will take a table or tables at £1350.00 per table of ten.
Please contact Robert Boutwood, Director of Fundraising Projects on robertb@aspinallfoundation.org if you would like to book a table. If you are unable to attend but would like to make a donation towards our serious conservation work we would be very grateful. Thank you.”
